Foley Artist

Pat Foley's impending return to the Chicago Blackhawks television broadcast booth is probably the worst kept secret in Chicago.  Barring a SNAFU of Dave McGinnis proportions, the Hawks will announce Foley's return at a press conference on Monday afternoon.  The only thing that might stop him is if he gets roaring, stinking drunk on Rush Street tonight with Slats Radke, and just skips the presser due to his hangover.  But Foley's probably too much of a pro (both as a broadcaster and a drinker) for that.

For anyone who loves the Hawks, this is great news.  First of all, the firing of the putrid Dan Kelly would be great news, regardless.  A monkey with Steven Hawking's voice simulator could do a better job than Kelly did.  But Foley's return is also the icing on the cake that is the revamping of the Chicago Blackhawks organ-I-zation.  The man who was the Voice of the Blackhawks for most of my natural life is returning to his rightful place.  Rocky Wirtz and John McDonough have done more to make the Hawks better (both on and off the ice) in the last 9 months than Bob Pulford did in his whole stinking existence. 

Still, if you're not familiar with Pat Foley (which means you either just started watching hockey, or you're 3 years old), there are two things you need to know about him:

1. Despite a pretty good 10 year career as a goalie in the NHL, the only reason people remember Murray Bannerman is because of this:


Awesome.

2.  Pat Foley really, really, REALLY hates that no-good ratfuck Alex Karpovtsev.


 


And rightfully so.  Welcome back, Pat.*


*Note, if the Blackhawks do not announce the rehiring of Pat Foley on Monday, June 16th, 2008, please disregard this post - except for the part about Alex Karpovtsev, who is a no-good ratfuck.
