DUGUAY'S DUGOUT
Once again, we at HOCKEENIGHT welcome the musings of former Blackhawks farmhand Pierre Duguay, holder of the Central Hockey League record for hooking penalties in a game, with 9. Take it away, Pierre!Bonjour des lecteurs Longueuil de nuit d'hockee!
I understand there has been much talk in America this past week about mères de hockey. I haven't had that much experience in this area, due to the fact a lot of the players on Le Femmes Coupe Longueuil are mothers themselves. However, apparently one of la mères de hockey is running for office down there now, and tried to use a game as a campaign stop. We Longueuillois loathe mixing our politics with our hockey. If the Mayor comes to a game, which he does quite often, he takes his seat with everyone else. One of the beautiful things about hockey is that all that matters is what happens on the ice. There's no place for politics.
The season is now underway, and tonight the Blackhawks play their home opener. Whether the fans will be optimistic about their young team or angry at their listless play in their first two games remains to be seen. Picking up two points would be a nice way to get everyone back on their side. If nothing else, fans will be able to see the game from their living rooms, which is welcome.
Remember this summer, when everyone was convinved the Hawks would trade for Anze Kopitar? C'est la vie.
This site has me listed on their "Watch List". I'm guessing it's some misguided Anglo who thinks Coupe Longueuil is someone who can be trifled with. We'll see who gets the last laugh when Le Femmes Coupe Longueuil win Le Tasse de Longueuil.
Brent Seabrook is mixing two things of untold beauty, hockey and bowling, for charity. You can either bowl with the Blackhawks, or can meet the players. All for a very good cause.
Dave Andrews, the President of the American Hockey League, doesn't see recent economic woes hurting his league. If nothing, I believe the AHL will be helped. Thigs being tough now means players on the Wolves will have to wait before collecting Social Security and will have to continue playing.
My coffee and crullers are gone, so I must prepare for the Monday morning fights. Until next time, au revoir des lecteurs Longueuil de Nuit d'Hockee
