Out Like A Lamb: Hawks 1, Habs 4
Oh for cripe's sake. What the hell was that out there?
We will be dispensing with our standard format tonight, because I can't in good conscience call anything about the Hawks good, and entire post of "THE BAD" makes my chest hurt. The Hawks got beat. Beat by the Montreal Canadians. Really. I'm not sure how it happened. At some point, a DeLorean arrived from the year 1995 and dropped off the vintage versions of Patrice Brisebois, Roman Hamrlik and Mathieu Schneider and the Canadians were off to the races. At least I'm assuming that's what happened, unless I'm expected to believe that the Hawks couldn't outskate that group of fucking fossils.
What's become obvious as of late is that the Hawks play to the level of their competition. How else can you explain a team going toe-to-toe to beat San Jose and New Jersey one week, then turning in lackluster efforts against two vastly inferior teams (I don't give a fuck how hot Vancouver is)? Well, that's something that's got to be addressed, Mr. Quenneville.
Also, I'm going to use this time to weigh in on the brawl in the Vancouver game on Sunday. I have to say, I thought the fight was idiotic. The brawl wasn't a "statement" by the Hawks. If they were going to stand up for each other, it should have been in the first period when Darcy Hordichuck went knee-to-knee with two different Hawks on the same shift (he got a penalty for Hjammer's and injured Brouwer). The clown act at the end of the game was simply the Hawks petulantly acting like babies, well after fighting would do any good. Down 3-0 with 5 minutes left, their actions weren't going to swing the momentum at that point.
More specifically, I thought Burish (a player I generally like) acted like a complete asshole. He started the brawl, punching Henrik Sedin several times in the face while 3 officials were holding onto him. This set off two seperate fights, and set off Shane O'Brien, who went apshit, all of which was exacerbated by the fact that the dumbass officials refused to leave Burish, which meant that Ducan Keith got his hair pulled, and Ben Eager nearly killed Kevin Bieksa because nobody broke up the fights after the takedowns.
My point? If Burish is going to stir shit up, he needs to be the one who's throwing the fists to back it up. If Keith or Seabrook (who was holding onto O'Brien for dear life to keep him from getting at Burish) had been injured in this melee, the Hawks would have been completely fucked for the postseason.
Anyway, the Hawks have a quick turn around, hosting the Blues at the UC tomorrow night. St. Louis has been playing well lately, and has given the Hawks fits all season. Let's hope we get a much better effort tomorrow.

CT, agree as usual. Since you brought up that silliness from Sunday again, I was reminded of an incident early in the year.
The Hawks and Coyotes had a war of words before the game because of a prior incident, the 'Hawks were spanking them and then with 4 minutes left in the game, the Yotes decided to stir shit up. The result was they looked a bunch of chumps. That's what the 'Hawks looked like on Sunday.

Just horrible stuff. I'm not watching any of these games lately. I'm only watching the games I'm going to. I've had some stuff come up.
But, I DID get to watch the game Sunday.
this whole thing sucks. I never thought i'd say this, but i'm looking for brouwer to come back so somebody gets in front of the net.
How can the hawks lose faceoffs so wildly?

Has anyone noticed how much the defense has sucked since they traded Wiz?

If Wiz were playing last night, Montreal would have had -3 shots on goal.

If Wiz is driving the Ducks' team bus at the Brickyard next month, he wins the Indy 500.

Wiz could fight Ditka to a tie.
