Flame On: Hawks 2, Flames 4

Well, the Flames finally got on the board.  Can't say either side played a brilliant game, this was a good back and forth playoff game in which the difference was the goaltending.  Miikka Kiprusoff finally outplayed Khabibulin in net, and that was the difference.  Well, that and the power play.  Make no mistake, the Flames needed this game to have any kind of hope in the series, and Kiprusoff got it for them.

THE GOOD

Patrick Sharp:  Sharpie looked good tonight, dishing out some hits, scoring the Hawks first goal and feeding Havlat with a nice pass for the second goal.

THE BAD

The Power Play:  The Hawks scored 8 seconds into their first power play, and then completely lost that magic, going 0 for their remaining 6.  If Calgary is going to continue to take dumbass penalties, the Blackhawks need to make them pay for it.

Pahlsson-VERSTEEG!- Byfuglien:  As good as this line played on Saturday, they were bad tonight.  The Flames seemed to be giving Buff some space, but he never really capitalized on it, and VERSTEEG! didn't do much of note (and probably needs to be yanked off the power play).  These guys were all -3 on the evening as well.

THE UGLY

Rene Bourque scored a weak goal against Khabibulin, throwing the puck on net from below the goal line and getting a lucky bounce.  That's just the way things seemed to be going tonight, as the Hawks had several chances at wide-open nets and couldn't convert.  Best to put this game out of mind and gear up for Game 4 at 9pm on Wednesday.  9PM?!?  Don't these networks understand that some of us work for a living?
