SONOFABITCH: Hawks 3, Canucks 5
This is going to be quick.
As CT was out at the bar watching the game and is now expected to write this recap after consuming several adult beverages AND go to work tomorrow, I can't say that my analysis is going to be flawless. While the result sucked, there WAS some actual good to be taken away from this game, to wit:
THE GOOD
See, it says right there, THE GOOD. Anyway, the Hawks made a spirited comeback, scoring 3 goals in the 3rd period to tie the game, only to lose it in last 2 minutes of regulation. While it sucks to lose, the Hawks at least proved they can solve Roberto Luongo, and if they can come out and play that kind of offensive game for 3 periods, they should be able to take game 2. And remember, all they need is one of the games to take home ice away from Vancouver.
Patrick Kane: 2 goals for Kaner? Sounds good to me.
THE BAD
Somebody needs to remind the Blackhawks' defensemen that when an opposing player is behind the net, chances are he's not going to score from there. In fact, he's probably going to try and flick a pass into the slot. SO STOP FOLLOWING THOSE GUYS BEHIND THE NET YOU ASSHOLES! Let the center do it, that's his job.
Penalties: The Hawks took way too many. The Canucks got 5 power plays, and 2 of those were double minors on careless high sticking penalties. Got to be better than that in the playoffs.
THE UGLY
Plus/Minus: The Hawks had only two guys on the positive end, the rest were minus or zero.
Faceoffs: The Canucks won 40 out of 64 faceoffs. Tough to play puck control offense when you don't have the puck.

I'm just going to enjoy this series. The Hawks took a huge step when they beat Calgary.
You guys already know I feel Vancouver is the worst matchup possible for them.
Hopefully they can make a spiriting comeback and win the series. Go Hawks!

Is General Motors Place the most annoying place to play hockey? Or is it just me?

Phil Rogers agrees with your plus/minus evaluation. However, he placed "high sticking" in front of "goal scoring" in his power rankings. That explains some things, I guess.

Keeping Bolland out of the faceoff circle will be crucial to the Hawks' chances. Toews was horrible last night as well - wonder if he still has a little brown-bottle flu from turning 21?

I heard that he had missed the morning skate or something too... so it very well could be that, Fork.

It's all right. Turning 21 happens once. Winning Cups, on the other hand, will be more frequent for the captain.

I was with Chris last night. It is impressive he could put such cogent thoughts together.
