Blown Chance: Hawks 1, Canucks 3

This one hurt.  Not that a 2-1 deficit is all that insurmountable, but with the Canucks missing both Salo and Demitria tonight, it was the perfect opportunity for the Hawks to grab the bull by the balls with a win tonight, which would have placed Vancouver in the terrible position of having to play a "must win" game 3 at Chicago.  Instead, the Hawks will need to win to pull even, and have surrendered the home ice advantage back to the Canucks.  Also, it appears that all this talk of the Blackhawks being in Roberto Luongo's head may have been premature.

THE GOOD

Brian Campbell:  Good game from Soupy, who scored the Hawks lone goal (thanks to a nice screen from Big Buff) and generally looked good on neutral zone rushes.  He even busted out the superfluous spin-o-rama.

Troy Brouwer:  Say what you want about Brouwer, he knows his role out there.  And his role has been to lay the lumber to every opposing player that gets near him.  Brouwer's done that during the playoffs, and managed to stay out of the box for the most part while doing it.

THE BAD

Penalties:  Dumb penalties again.  Byfuglien had a goaltender interference that nullified an early Hawks' power play (although Luongo appeared to take quite the dive) and Patrick Kane's atrocious hooking penalty 190 feet from his own net might have gotten him benched during the regular season.

The Back Door Pass:  Once again, the Hawks power play has begun seizing up as they attempt to set up and complete the admittedly lovely back-door pass.  While that play is aesthetically pleasing, the Canucks are on to it, and our boys would be much better served to SHOOT THE GODDAMN PUCK.

Marty Havlat:  The Perfect Beard had an assist tonight, but hasn't been his usual self in this series.  I'm sure some of that is due to the Canucks efforts, but if he wants another big contract, Marty's got to step up now.

THE UGLY

Mats Sundin

Thought Luongo got shot in the back, such was that "interference" from Buff. The Hawks were building some momentum at that pt and Luongo stole it away with that dive. Asshole.

This is the first hockey-related site I visited this morning as I'm still pretty pissed at last night's performance. It reminded me of some of their March stinkers.

Blame game starts on #88. While it was a weak penalty, it gave the Canucks a chance to stretch the lead. He played like shit last night, even after Q benched his ass. He gets some break for being young, but he needs to take these mistakes and learn from them.

All in all, the team played like shit last night, like they could just roll out theior sticks and win because they were back home. Well, they'd better have some jump tomorrow night from the beginning or it'll be their last home game for a while.

Then to see Anaheim get a 2-1 series advantage on Detroit pisses me off even more.

Plus, I'm guessing Holmstrom gets a game for elbowing Wiz in the mouth.

If Wiz were here...Iginla and one of those Sedin brother are probably scoring more goals without Paulsson on them.

Is that one of those "trades that benefit both teams" like the Doug Glanville-for-Mickey Morandini?

Hawks are in unchartered territory, but I can this series going 7. The Hawks need a replay of Game 5 of the Calgary series tomorrow.

    Fist of the North Star?

Wasn't Dino Ciccarelli in that movie?

He was the one receiving the fisting, I believe.
