Close But... Hawks 2, Wings 3 (OT)
That hurt.
Good game from the Hawks. A bit like Game 1, only they played a much better 3rd period this time, then lost the game in overtime after a terrible turnover at the blue line (STOP TURNING THE PUCK OVER AT THE BLUE LINE!) by Brian Campbell.
THE GOOD
Jonathan Toews: After being much maligned for his no-show in Game 1, Toews carried the Hawks scoring their only 2 goals and playing a strong game down low in front of Osgood and along the boards.
Patrick Kane: Kaner was also a lot more noticeable out there. He skated to open space as often as possible, and generated several scoring chances, but no points. Still, if he can keep this up, he's going to get some of those shots past Osgood.
Patrick Sharp: Sharp has been an excellent 2-way forward during these playoffs. He's brought some scoring threat to the Hawks 4th line, and tonight he won his way into "The Good" with a stellar sequence on the penalty kill midway through the 3rd period.
Nikolai Khabibulin: Khabi played a hell of a game. Detroit is always going to have periods when they dominate inside the offensive zone, and tonight was no different. But Khabi didn't give up anything in those situations, other than one on the power play.
THE BAD
Blue Line Turnovers: The Hawks had several more of these, which lead directly to two goals, which lead directly to, well, losing. GET THE PUCK IN DEEP YOU IDIOTS.
The Dan Cleary - Brent Seabrook Connection: I'm not sure what it is about Cleary that's forcing Seabs to misplay the puck off faceoffs, but if this keeps up, he's going to win Cleary the goddamned Conn Smythe.
THE GOAT
Brian Campbell: His idiotic attempt to stickhandle at the blue line in overtime left Cam Barker alone on a 3 on 1. Barker and Khabibulin had no chance, and it cost the Hawks the game. GET THE PUCK IN DEEP YOU IDIOT.
THE UGLY
2-0 Red Wings. What could be uglier than that?
Hawks are back home on Friday night, in what is now a must win game, so they better win.

That last goal happened in slow fucking motion. All I could do was yel "Noooooo!" as soon as the turnover happened, and you could see the 3-on-1 develop.

well, at least chuck has someone to hate now since Campbell is a overpaid and selfish defensemen who makes mistakes.
