The Hawks re-shuffled their roster prior to tonight's home opener.  Radek Smolenak was placed on waivers and claimed by Tampa Bay, and Jack Skille was recalled from Rockford.  Also, Dave Bolland participated in the morning skate, so hopefully he'll be good to go for tonight.

I've made no secret of my thoughts on Skille, I doubt he's ever going to live up to his promise as the 7th overall pick in the 2005 draft, but this is definitely the right time to get him on the ice.  Skille's been kept in Rockford by a combination of inconsistent play and high salary.  But with Marion Hossa on the Injured List, this is the perfect time to see what Skille can do, once and for all.  Worst case, he's a bust, but he'll still be better than whatever Radek Smolenak is, and in the best case scenario, he plays well enough to give the Hawks front office a tough choice to make when Hossa is ready to be activated.
