Is This Thursday? Must be Nashville: Hawks 0, Preds 2

I am sick of watching fucking Nashville.

The Hawks got beat tonight in another typical Nashvillian game.  The Preds kept it tight, clogged the neutral zone, blocked a shit-ton of shots and managed to eek out a goal on the power play, and tonight that was enough.  On the good side, Brent Seabrook was back in action tonight, and he looked pretty good for a guy who was coming off a week's layoff for injury.

Anyway, on with it.

THE GOOD

Patrick Kane:  Kane was the iron man tonight, logging more minutes than every Hawk but Campbell and Keith and double shifting for most of the night.  The reasons for this were two-fold: first, Kane was on.  The Hawks didn't score, but it wasn't for lack of chances generated by number 88 - he was everywhere.  Second, nobody else on Chicago could do much of anything on offense when Kane wasn't on the ice.

Cristobal Huet:  Another good outing Huet.  He kept the Hawks in this one with some very good saves, especially when Chicago had to kill two penalties near the end of the game and basically left Cris on his own while the Hawks' forwards had to constantly release from the zone and try to create breakaway scoring chances.

THE BAD

The Power Play: The Blackhawks were 0 for 5, including going 6 on 4 at the end of the game.  Granted, the Preds blocked a ton of shots, but this team has been terrible on the man advantage so far.  Let's hope Toews and Hossa are the answers.

Tomas Kopecky:  Kopecky played 10:00 in this game, and it seemed like twice that much.  Probably because in addition to his fourth line duties, Kopecky was on the power play unit again, something that needs to stop.  He also took a dumb penalty with about 5 minutes left in the game and the Hawks down by one.

Penalties:  How do you get outshot by the Nashville Predators?  Give them 6 power plays to work with.  I think even the Hawks could score if given 6 chances on the man advantage.

Net Presence:  Foley and Olczyk were praising the Hawks for getting in Pekka Rinne's face, but it was hardly effective.  Against Minnesota, the Hawks swarmed the net to get rebound goals.  Tonight, the Hawks were driving the net, but the shots were coming from the perimeter and getting to Rinne well before any traffic got in front of him.  Note to the Hawks - skating up into the goaltender's face after he's already gloved the puck and frozen it doesn't do any good.

THE UGLY

Did I miss a memo that the playoffs started in October this year?  Because it seems like the Hawks are playing a 7 game series against the Preds.  Thankfully we won't be seeing their ugly asses again until December.

HockeeMen, the Golden Thong Award goes to the Blackhawks tonight, as the majority played like a bunch of lap dancers.

They made Barry Trotz, who is the Edward G Robinson of NHL coaches, look like Brad Pitt.

    Now THAT is scary.

Huet played terribly. Niemi would've shut them out. And I heard Kapman say Khabibulin would've allowed negative goals.
