ARTFUL DODGERS: Blackhawks 4, Kings 1.
Tonight, the Chicago Blackhawks welcomed back #19 and #55, and 1955 was the only time the Brooklyn Dodgers won the World Series. Andrew Ebbett scored his first goal, and the Brooklyn Dodgers played at Ebbets Field. They beat Los Angeles, the city the Dodgers abandoned Brooklyn for in what is still referred to as "The Great Betrayal", 4-1, '41 was the year Mickey Owen let a third strike get past him in the World Series. Do I even have to mention that Brooklyn is in Kings County?
Let's get to it:
THE GOOD:
The return of the Captain. Jonathan Toews couldn't have picked a better time to get healthy, since Dave Bolland will not be available any time soon. Seeing him, as well as Ben Eager, back in the lineup means the Hawks are once again dressing 12 forwards. Toews was sorely missed in the faceoff circle as well, and he was a force in his return, winning 13 of 20 faceoffs, and scoring a goal. In fact, in his first game back, the Hawks got 2 PPGs in 3 opportunities. Coincidence? Fuhgeddaboudit.
BROUWER POUWER!!! Scored a PPG by deflecting a Patrick Sharp shot, and had two assists as well. He drew a penalty as well, and was a force the entire night.
THE BAD:
Defensive zone turnovers. They gave LA an awful lot of chances they shouldn't have had, and only Huet bailed out his DMen.
THE UGLY:
Edzo, for chrissakes. You hit every damn cliché tonight, from LONG CHANGE to ACTIVE STICK to THE Ds HAVE THE FORWARDS AND THE FORWARDS HAVE THE Ds. You even threw in your ludicrous Duncan Keith/Brian Leetch comparison. Aside from the fact they have absolutely nothing in common other than the number 2 on their sweaters, the similarities are eerie. Guh.
Coming up next is another home game Wednesday night against the red-hot Colorado Avalanche. We'll see if they can finish the shootout before midnight.

I'm sure Kapman is pleading with Mcdonough to sign Mats Sundin or Peter Forsberg.

What the Kap Man will likely say: "The Hawks injury situation is so much like the '09 Cubs. They need to fix it fast and sign Forsberg and Chelios. Both have Stanley Cups and this team needs leadership in the locker room. If they stand pat, they're DONE!"
