Kyle Wellwoo is so fat his full name won't fit in this headline: Hawks 1, Canucks 0
The Hawks are off to a great start on the Circus Trip (do we capitalize that?), taking the first six points and sweeping through Canada. Tonight's game was the toughest they've played so far, and while a 1-0 score may sound boring to some, this game was anything but. Both teams played excellent defense, breaking up rushes and killing penalties. The few times a team was able to get some offensive pressure and get a good scoring chance, the goaltenders were equal to the task. And a great game from this young Hawks team, which showed they can play defense with anyone in the league.
THE GOOD
Brian Bickell: Bickell's been playing in a prime spot with Kane and Toews, so it was good to see him get his first goal of the season by standing in front of the net and banging home a rebound. Also, I finally have an excuse to post this picture:

Defense: Great team defense from the Hawks tonight. Sticks were quick, active and on the ice, which means that Eddie Olczyk will be watching the replay of this game with the shades drawn in his hotel room tonight.
Madden/Ladd/Brouwer: Special mention for these guys, who matched up against the Sedins all night and kept them from doing any damage.
Antti Niemi: Great game from Niemi. Scoring chances were hard to come by, but Vancouver had several excellent point blank chances and was up to the challenge. He was not just along for the ride, and earned hisfirst second career shutout in the NHL.
THE BAD
Dustin Byfuglien: Not a terrible game from Buff, but he had some bad moments that stood out due the game being so close. First, he took a stupid penalty in the neutral zone. Second he botched up a couple of two on ones. Again, not a terrible game, but when good scoring chances are tough to come by, you've gotta make every one count.
THE UGLY
Lots of scrums after whistles in this one. These teams clearly dislike each other, it's kind of fun to see.
Up next: The Hawks take on San Jose on Wednesday, and the RETURN(or debut) OF MARIAN HOSSA

The Hawks' best goddam game of the year.

And a fuggin shutout to boot.

Actually it's Niemi's second shutout in the NHL he got one against the Panthers way back when, in October.

Exactly, give credit where credit is due. This is #2 for Nieminator! Drinking from the cup is still alive and we have not even seen our high dollar sniper yet. the good times will only get better.

Exactly! Give credit where credit is dur. This is the 2nd shtot for Nieminator. The Hawks are playing great and the future is bright as we have yet to see our new sniper. The drought is looking more and more likely to end. It will be so sweet to see the cup hoisted in Chicago

As long as it's hoisted by a member of the home team.

I am not a Niemi meatball. I just think he *could* be a good goalie someday.
Two shutouts in six career starts.

I was waiting for the Taxi Driver reference. Foley was mentioning they were playing the Sharks next and they were the best team in the NHL. I think the best team in the NHL is wearing the Indian head.

The worst part for the Canucks is, they had already planned the route for their post-win parade.
All that work, wasted.

Did Roberto Luongo do a Dick Vermeil impression in the postgame interviews again?

3 wins and Duncan Keith didn't get attacked by a crazy Alex Burrows wielding his high heel shoe. Consider this Canada trip a success.

If a deal is as inevitable as everyone seems to think there will be, I really hope Buff is the salary they move. I wouldn't mind him so much if he'd actually do something other than wait till the linesmen are between him and an opponent. The opponents are getting away with running the Hawks' goalies and other crap after the whistle. I'm not advocating getting a "goon", but Buff isn't earning his money like the rest of his teammates. Hell, even Sopel is doing his part on D.

We get it, you're advocating getting a "known pussy".

I'm beginning to think Buff is a known pussy.
Not looking for somebody to start something, just someone to finish it.

If he's not known as a pussy, he will be soon.

Call me crazy but I think the best way to stop another team from running your goalie is to get Colin Fraser to throw his face into the opposing goalie's knee.
