Lackluster: Hawks 1, Coyotes 2 (SO)
What's worse than bad hockey? Maybe boring hockey. This team is officially ready for the Olympic break. Too bad they've got four more games until they get to it. The boys have not brought their best effort the last two games, and in honor of them, I will not be bringing my best effort to this recap. That's right, as the Hawks go, I go.
So you're getting no good, no bad, and no ugly. Cristobal Huet played a good game and Colin Fraser scored a goal, but the rest of it is hardly worth mentioning. Unless you like ex-Blackhawks. Do you like ex-Blackhawks? You do? What the hell is wrong with you? Anyway, our old friends Robert Lang, Adrian Aucoin, Jim Vandermeer and Radim Vrbata were in town. And hey, a shitload of ex-Hawks have landed in Phoenix: Dan Cleary, Tony Amonte, Keith Carney,Jeremy Roenick, Dave Manson, Brian Noonan, Jimmy Waite, Jocelyn Lemiuex and Jim Cummins. That's right, I was so underwhelmed by tonight's game that I'd rather put together that list than write anything substantive about the game.
So, in conclusion, here's what you need to know: Huet was good, Fraser scored, the penalty killing was effective and generated more chances than the power play which was a clown act and the officiating was terrible for both sides. Also apparently Adrian Aucoin is a shootout master now.
Oh, and some guy at the game really doesn't like Cam Barker.
But you know what? I don't want to go to bed angry. That's always bad. So instead, I'll cheer myself up by watching Eddie Jovanovski get punched in the face again. Now that's something everyone can enjoy.

CT - Your less than best effort is still better than most of the A-Games of most of the hockey writers in this town.
Seriously - they need to get a bunch of players out of their funks - Versteeg, Madden, Buff, etc. Too much pressuer on the Captain, Kane and Hossa.

Now if the rest of the Hawks could decide to play a good game when Cristo is having a good game--which he was--that would be very nice.
And Stan needs to find a NASTY d-man to assist the gentlemen now manning the blueline in Chicago. It's too pleasant for opponents to hang around the Blackhawk net nowadays. Hence the plethora of deflections.

i tried to stay awake through the game but the trap style and the hawks will to play 100% made me fall asleep, the refs sucked and im sure there is more of that tonite as far as watching boring rope a dope, trap hockey and knowing that some of those teams that play that style will be in the playoffs really is bumming me out is there a way to eliminate the trap? because it does'nt sell to new viewers
