HOCKEENIGHT Dances For A Cure
For those who don't know, not only is CT a National 9-Dance Champion, but Fork can move around a dance floor with some degree of proficiency and style. Actually, his wife (LFork) is great, so you don't even notice him stumbling around.Anyway, Fork is involved with an event every year called Dancing With Chicago Celebrities. It's basically a Chicago-area "Dancing With The Stars", with local celebs (like Maancow and Gale Sayers) dancing a routine with a professional from one of the local Arthur Murray studios. This is to raise money for Susan G. Komen For The Cure, which is helping those who suffer from breast cancer.
Why are we telling you all this? Because we're trying to raise some money to do some good. You guys have stepped up in the past, like when we did this last year, or the Beard-A-Thon during the playoffs, something we'll do again this year.
We've actually set up a fundraising page you can find here. You can see we've already raised over $300, as of this writing. That's two mammograms, with money toward a third. Or, it's 25% of a needle biopsy.
Look, this disease is a real bitch, and if you don't know someone who has had it, the sad fact is that someday you will. But the good news is that there's advances being made all the time, not only in treatment, but in preventive care and work toward a cure.
The event itself is March 12 at the Hyatt downtown on Wacker. If any HOCKEENIGHT readers show up, we'll get you a dance lesson - if not from one of the professionals, from Fork (or LFork where applicable).
So let's see what we can accomplish here - the hockey community has always been a giving one.
Thanks.

You forgot to add that I'm a formal Intercontinental Champion.

Formal? I thought you won in the business-casual class.

CT - Living in Wheaton must be suppressing your natural instinct to dance.

Well done, Gentlemen. You have my contribution. Hope everyone steps up.
PS is Donald Brashear a Hawk yet?
Cheers.

CT may have been a former Intercontinental Champion. However living in Dekalb, I am still the World Heavyweight Champion. And if you're not down with that, I only got two words for you...

What are the two words? "Nabokov Rules"...?

Haha. Good one. "HUET SUCKS" could also be used.

Glad to see you guys using your power for good instead of evil.
Good luck!
