PLAYERS' RIVALRY

There are two types of rivalries in sports: The ones for the fans, and the ones for the players.

For instance, while Blackhawks fans can certainly get their blood boiling at the sight of the Winged Wheel, the simple fact is that the players on either side don't really have that. They've had some good regular season games, but the current crop of players haven't really done battle in the postseason yet.

Granted, they met in last year's Western conference Finals, but anyone who watchedwill agree that it was much more of the Red Wings running a clinic than it was two teams doing battle.

Now if you want to know what the players think, all you had to do was listen to comments by Blackhawks players after the season was over. When asked who in the NHL they'd all really like to clobber, the Hawks' defensemen, to a man, named Vancouver Canucks.

This is turning more into a blood feud than a rivalry. Whether it's Willie Mitchell calling Patrick Kane "lucky" during last year's playoffs, followed by Kane sticking it up his ass with a hat trick to eliminate the Canucks, and following it up with a joke about being lucky in postgame comments, to Alexandre Burrows pulling Duncan Keith's hair while Ben Eager turned Kevin Bieksa to hamburger in the corner, to Mitchell ragdolling Jonathan Toews...these are two teams that hate each other.

All last summer, the Canucks stewed over being eliminated by the Hawks. When the first meeting of the regular season was approaching, the Canucks, seeking revenge, vowed to give the Hawks what-for. Instead, the Hawks and Canucks split the regular season series. Although, the Hawks Roethlisbergered the Canucks' collective asses last time out, winning 6-3.

So of the four series left there are three which might have some decent hockey. But only this one will be a war.

Stay tuned.
