HOCKEENIGHT'S BIRTHDAY: Two for Unsportsmanlike Conduct
It was back on June 3, 2008 that it all began. The world was a simpler place back then. Marian Hossa was playing in the Stanley Cup Final, the Washington Capitals were sent packing in the first round after finishing first, and Kyle Wellwood was fat.
How things have changed.
Two meatheads, Forklift and CT, had each thought about starting a Blackhawks site in the spirit of Desipio or Hire Jim Essian . They figured together, they'd have to spend half the money and effort. It was in this spirit of cheapness and laziness that HOCKEENIGHT was born. In fact, the creators of Desipio and HJE have shown their own admiration for our efficient model of cheap and lazy.
Along the way, we at Hockeenight have prided ourselves on our hard-hitting reporting style. We also began the HOCKEENIGHT Puckcast, which was of course the easiest way possible for us to leech hits off those who were far smarter, funnier, and more popular than us. Oh, and Chris Block too. Luckily, a timely investment from a small family run
business enabled us to expand our roster of award-winning
writers, freeing up Forklift and CT to spend even more time, uh, doing whatever else it is we do.
So we've been at it for two years. In that time we've now recapped 200 games, and done another 326 posts. We're also starting to close in on 100 Puckcasts, and 1000 BMBRolls in the Shoutbox during Hawks games.
We've also made some friends, and pissed off a pretty generous handful of people as well. Keep those cards and letters coming!
The good news/bad news is, we've paid for another year of domain & hosting, so there's at least 12 more months of our idiocy to indulge. And now we're entering our Terrible Twos, so prepare for lots of screaming and tantrums.
It'll be just like a Canucks game.

Congrats and happy birthday!

Not since Loggins and Messina (to whom Fork and CT bear an almost doppelganger-ish resemblance) changed the way human beings listen to music, have two men altered--in such an inexorable and indelible fashion--the perception of contemporary culture.
HockeeNight is where the sacred meets the profane. In a cage match.
Happy Birthday, HockeeMen.

To my go to site for Blackhawks insight:
Keep up the good work, Second City Hockey.
To my friends at Hockeenight:
Where would I get the insights of the great Dave Morris, Mark Giangreco Roman Wrestler, Fro Dog, and the rest?
Happy Anniversary (Birthday?).
What, no D-day references?
