SABRES NOT SHARP ENOUGH: Blackhawks 4, Sabres 3

OK, everyone can breathe now.

The Chicago Blackawks grabbed all 4 points on the table during this back-to-back, road/home run, coming from behind in the third period to defeat the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in the United Center behind 2 goals by Patrick Sharp.

Let's get to this:

THE GOOD:

Brent Seabrook. This guy was simply outstanding. One sweet-assed stretch pass to spring Marian Hossa for a breakaway, another outstanding pass to spring Dave Bolland for his game tying goal. Also great positional play and dive to break up a Buffalo 3-on-1. Threw his body around too. Just a textbook game.

Sharp. Another two goals, just missed on a couple others. He and Hossa are dialed right in now. 5 goals each...losing some scoring depth this summer meant some guys had to step up, and so far Sharp has been high stepping, as well as very handsome.

Troy Brouwer. The man was a hitting machine all over the ice tonight. QStache rewarded his efforts by putting him back on a line with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Hopefully he's got it going now.

Dave Bolland. His first goal of the season to tie things up, and 13-6 (68%) on faceoffs tonight. This is the guy we saw in the playoffs last spring.

Marty Turco. He got a little puck-happy, which cost the Hawks a goal. But when the Hawks needed big saves, Turco was fucking nails. A huge game after getting in the win column last night.

THE BAD:

Tomas Kopecky. The officials screwed him out of a first period goal, which would have maybe, just maaaaaayyyybe, would have put him at the break-even point. A dumb hit on Derek Roy late in the third period put the Hawks on a penalty kill. He was just shitty.

Jassen Cullimore. Speaking of shitty, hopefully the Hawks are done trying to recreate the magic of the 2005-06 and 06-07 teams. Maybe this is their way of thanking him for being part of teams so bad they netted the franchise the picks that became Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. I don't know, but he made John Scott and Jordan Hendry look like Doug Wilson and Chris Chelios out there. Guh.

Nick Boynton. Another penalty at the end of the game. Dammit, quit playing like you're in love and show a little veteran poise.

THE UGLY:

Scott at the forward position. I know QStache needed to dress Scott, just in case anyone on Buffalo got any bright ideas, but Jack Skille has actually played well enough to keep his spot in the Hawks' lineup. QStache will need the Murdersaurus out there Monday against the Blues, but back on the blueline, please.
