Nothing like seeing the Vancouver Canucks to get the Chicago Blackhawks back on track. The Hawks continued being the pimps treating the Canucks like their lowest earner, absolutely destroying the perennial Stanley Cup favorites 7-1 in Rogers Arena.

Let's do this:


THE GOOD:

Joel Quenneville pushing the right button. He sent out a line of Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa for the first shift following a TV timeout, and Toews redirected a Hossa shot to get the scoring started in the second. At that point, the Hawks started playing aggressive hockey the rest of the way.

Corey Crawford. He was huge when the Hawks needed him to be, and he was rewarded with a relatively easy night of work once the Hawks tilted the rink in the second.

Roberto Luongo. The Hawks own his ass, plain and simple. There is no longer Dustin Byfuglien to blame it all on. I'm not totally unconvinced John Scott wouldn't have put one past him tonight.

THE BAD:

The Hawks' tentative play in the first period. The mental has completely taken over the physical for this team. They looked like they were terrified of screwing up. If the Canucks had scored first, there's no guarantee we wouldn't have had a replay of last night's Calgary debacle. Fortunately, the Hawks played like the Hawks, the Canucks played like they were playing the Hawks.


THE UGLY:

The Canucks' effort tonight. Not only did they get pimpslapped, but they had no fortitude. At some point, the coaching has to be questioned, as they lost composure and the game got out of hand quickly. This happens when the Canucks play Chicago. Good for us, but this Canucks team, with its playing and coaching personnel, will not win a championship. Nope. Ain't happening.

Now the Hawks get a few days off before they begin the California leg of the Circus Trip in San Jose on Wednesday.
