Something Something: Hawks 4, Predators 1

One thing about Preds games, they rarely result in good recaps. Nashville plays their Barry Trotz brand of hockey: roll 4 lines, defense, defense, defense, maybe score a goal. Fortunately, the Hawks were able to match the Preds on the defensive side and Jack Skille brought more than enough offense.  It adds up to two points against a divisional opponent, and a Merry Christmas for all of us.

THE GOOD

Jacke Skille - Once again Skille had two goals against Nashville, which makes 4 of his 6 on the year.  And let me tell you, against a team as stingy as the Preds, I'm not going to complain about having a guy who specializes in scoring goals against them.

Defense - Once again the Hawks were terrific on defense.  Granted, the Preds aren't a scoring juggernaut, but Chicago kept the rebounds under control and didn't give up an even strength goal.

Bryan Bickell - Bick's got a 5 game scoring streak and got another goal tonight.  It turns out that if you give Bickell time and space, he's got a shot he can kill you with.  Cue the gap-toothed grin.

THE BAD

Nothing too bad tonight.  The Hawks didn't blow many assignments and as a result the Preds only got a single goal while on a power play.  So I guess that penalty kill was bad.

THE UGLY

Up Next:  The Hawks will enjoy themselves a Merry Christmas, then close out the homestand against the Blue Jackets on Sunday.
