I Love LA: Hawks 4, Kings 3

Well, that fixed everything.  Not really, but with the Hawks on a 3 game losing streak, they got two big boosts tonight - first ,the return of captain Jonathan Toews to the lineup, and second, a game against the LA Kings who Chicago has owned this season.

THE GOOD

Patrick Sharp - 2 more goals for Sharpie, one off a beautiful bit of passing on a power play, and the second coming when Sharp located the puck during a goalmouth scrum.

The Posts - Corey Crawford's best friends tonight.  I lost track of how many times the Kings drew iron, but the important thing was, all those pucks kicked outward.

Toews and Hossa - The turning point in the game late in the first period when Joel Quenneville sent these two out on the ice together.  They dominated the Kings for a full shift, and they played together the rest of the game.  Hossa netted himself and early power play goal, and late in the third, Toews got the game winner.

THE BAD

Dumb Penalties - Look, when you've got one of the worst PK units in the league, you don't want to take any penalties.  But while nursing a one goal lead in the 3rd period, the Hawks took a too many men on the ice penalty then a delay of game immediately after that THEN a careless high stick after that.  All 3 penalties were simply the result of carelessness, and that shit has to stop.

Brent Seabrook - Seabrook had a particularly bad night.  One of his several blind clearing attempts ended up in the back of the Hawks net, and he simply looked off all game.

THE UGLY

The First Period - I would have expected the Hawks to come out flying after losing to Anaheim the way they did, but no such luck.  Chicago came out slow, and the Kings blitzed them early, with only Corey Crawford and the iron bailing them out.

Up Next - HOCKEENIGHT PUCKCAST!

How ugly was it? Just ask Jonny Toews, who apparently was told by DoughtyDrew that his goal was not only ugly, it was 'cheap'. Nyahh nyahh.

And TomoKop emerged from the convent to get an ugly assist on The Hoss Man's beautiful goal.

Ugly is beautiful. No matter how handsome Sharpie may be.
