Another Near Catastrophe: Blackhawks 6, Predators 3
All's well that ends well, right? The Chicago Blackhawks were able to overcome dumb penalties and some brutal penalty killing early, to ride 5 goals by the Motorboats (Dave Bolland 2, Troy Brouwer 2, Brian Bickell 1) and Jonathan Toews' 100th career goal to a come-from-behind 6-3 win at the United Center tonight.Let's get to this:
THE GOOD:
Bolland. Over 50% in the faceoff circle, and two goals, one of the "holy shit!" variety. He's now up to 9 goals after a very slow start...if he keeps it going the Hawks are back to rolling 3 scoring lines.
Brouwer. Not only did he make Francis Bouliion do his best imitation of a fly meeting a windsheild in the first, he scored one grinder-type goal and one ripper. Oh, and both in 40 seconds.
Brian Campbell. He's been excellent this season, and his carrying the puck behind the net, drawing every Predator to him, then feeding Bickell in the slot for a bang-bang goal was sweet. This after limping off the ice the shift before.
THE BAD:
The Hawks' inability to stay out of the box. Twice they immediately entered the penalty box following a goal. Both times, the Preds scored. Not good.
THE UGLY:
You're expecting Barry Trotz here, right? Well, after seeing Bob Verdi's combover...yeah, it's still Trotz.
The Hawks are now off until Saturday, when they have a matinee in Detroit. Which is good, since they'll be out of there before nightfall.
