DOOMCast Stars 2, Hawks 1
If you were with us at Galway Bay then I can tell you that I've confirmed that the Blackhawks really did open their season last night and they really did lose to the Dallas Stars 2-1 in front of 16 people at American Airlines Center. Hopefully most of you are able to keep this one in perspective. Yes, it's just the first game of eighty-two but two points are two points and these were supposed to be relatively easy. Let's get to the Good, Bad and Ugly.
THE GOOD:
Look, the Hawks outplayed Dallas for the most part. I think we can agree that Kari Lehtonen stole one for the Stars tonight and unfortunately these things happen. Marian Hossa had some awe-inspiring rushes where he seemed determined to get the puck on the net. More of that and they'll start going in. Also congrats to Nick Leddy for keeping the Hawks from being shutout.
THE BAD:
Duncan Keith's season didn't get off to the best of starts. He had an embarrassing giveaway in the first period where it looked like he forgot how to skate and pass at the same time. Another turnover in the 2nd led to a Dallas goal. I'm not ruling out the possibility that someone spiked his Gatorade bottle with Malort. The power play, brought to you by Ronald McDonald's Shoes, was 0 for 4.
THE UGLY:
On behalf of HOCKEENIGHT and our glorious readers I would like to thank Sam and Nolan for providing the ways and means to a drunkening that I'm sure we're all still feeling the effects of. At some point this morning I'm certain I had a conversation with Genghis Khan. These Malort hangovers are something special. So while I try to exorcise these remaining wormwood demons from my body, please regain your focus and remember that revenge shall come swiftly.
The next Hawks game is tonight against the red-hot Dallas Stars at the United Center. It's the home opener and HOCKEENIGHT is going to be there. Let's Go Hawks.
