ROASTED TURKEY YESTERDAY, ROASTED DUCK TODAY: Blackhawks 6, Ducks 5

In what is becoming even a grander Black Friday tradition that Wal-Mart violence, the lovely LFork is once again recapping the Blackhawks/Ducks matinee. While neither CT, Slak, nor Fork had to do any work on this one, we are in peril of losing our jobs. So with no further ado, LFork:

After 3 losses in a row, the Hawks won in Anaheim, beating the Ducks 6-5.  And they did it in an exciting way, coming from behind to tie it up with 2 goals in the first minute and a half of the third period, and then getting 2 more goals before the first 10 minutes were over.  Let’s get to it.

THE GOOD:

Anyone with a letter on his chest.  Patrick Sharp scored the second hat trick of his career, with the second and third goals only 2 minutes apart. That’s 10 handsome goals so far this season.

Jonathan Toews.  The captain showed everyone why he wears the C by assisting on Sharp’s first goal and then getting 2 goals and 2 more assists in the third period, including the first helmetless goal by a Blackhawk since Doug Wilson.  Toews obviously did not think he deserved the penalty he took in the first, and that made him mad.  Other teams should be aware that making Jonathan Toews mad is not in their best interest.

Duncan Keith.  Keith played like the Norris-trophy winner that he is, including breaking up a 2-on-1 by throwing himself onto the ice.

Brent Seabrook.  It’s good to have him back.

THE BAD:

Frustration.  The Hawks were a little slow to start, being out-shot by Anaheim 13-9 in the first, and trailing 4-2 going into the third.  They did come back to win it, but this is generally not a good strategy.  And while Marian Hossa is not one of my bads, the fact that he has not had a goal in the last 3 games is frustrating.  He is doing everything right, so we know it’s just a matter of time, but I want him to get a goal, and from the way he is playing, I’m pretty sure he wants one too.

THE UGLY:

Dan Carcillo.  He took a penalty in the second and he’s just horrible looking and a horrible hockey player.

The Hawks play the Kings tomorrow.  Let’s hope they can continue the momentum from today’s third period into tomorrow’s game and get 6 points out of this year’s circus trip.
