TEEING OFF ON THE HAWKS: Wild 2, Blackhawks 1 (SO)

Tonight the Chicago Blackhawks went into XCel Energy Center (left) in Minnesota to play the Wild.

They went in still without Jonathan Toews, and also without Dave Bolland. They did, however, have Duncan Keith back after serving his 5-game suspension for elbowing Daniel Sedin in the head.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead off a first period goal by Jamal Mayers. They then decided that was it for the night, as they allowed the Wild to tie it up with a power play goal late in the third period. The Wild then won the shootout when Devin Setoguchi used his wedge to lift the puck over Corey Crawford.

Let's get to this:

THE GOOD:

Michael Frolik. Remember him? He set up Barbados Slim for a nice goal, and had good jump to his game all night. He's making sure he stays out of QStache's doghouse.

Barbados Slim. A goal, and took a headbutt from Nate Prosser, who quickly achieved full penisloaf status. That's a real bush league move.

Corey Crawford. He stood tall for the Hawks tonight, especially on a second period penalty kill that could have been what turned the tide. He's looking like a playoff goalie.

THE BAD:

Old Donald may have finished getting back on defense by the time you read this. Maybe.

THE UGLY:

The Hawks power play was just abysmal. They got a 5 minute major split between the first and second periods, and couldn't get anything for it. They had 11 minutes in power play time, and got bupkus.

So that's it for seeing the Wild. They're off to the links come Monday, where they can enjoy telling each other how they gave the Hawks what-for. The Hawks go to Detroit for a Saturday matinee, where a regulation win puts them into the 5 seed, where they would get Nashville in the first round. I'd keep an eye on the Sharks/Kings games if I were you.

Ah the headbutt. Makes me all nostalgic for Bryan Marchment.

My god the Hawks special teams play blows. It's really amazing this club accumulated 99 points.

Stan has much offseason work to do.

loved the photo - i missed your explanation, who is that guy who appears in the picture all the time. One of the highlights of my day are coming over hear to see the creative ways his mug is displayer. Make no mistake about it, the guy weirds me out.

Nice recap, but i thought O'D looked pretty good. Hjarmal's especially.

Crow was an NHL goal tender last night - keeping fingers and toes crossed.

I love the way Frolik plays-he's one of the best skaters and hardest workers on the Hawks. If it comes down to Frolik vs. Bollig or Hayes, the decions pretty simple in my mind. There isn't much room for fighting in the playoffs

one last thing, Morrison looked like a hockey player out there last night.

I just thought of something - having to do with the differences between men and women.

Your picture reminded me of our bedroom(don't get excited you pervo). On my wall, I have a huge print of the 11th green at Augusta by Mark King. I believe Nicklaus and Ballesteros are putting on it. (not really clear, but the black adn blonde hair appear to be a give away.

On my wifes side, there is a picture of a girl, dressed in her night gown, sitting on her canopy covered bed, wistfully staring out a window that seems to hold the fallen promises of her romantic heart. It's as if she's hoping her knight in shining armor appears on his white steed. (Instead, she's stuck with one of the 7 dwarves - Dopey.)

The pictures couldn't be more diametrically opposed - there certainly is little doubt men are from Mars and women are from Venus.
