London Calling: Hawks/Maple Leafs @ 2014 Rookie Tourney

The puck dropped in London, Ontario Saturday, and the long wait for some Hawks fans was over as the rookie tourney got underway.

Lines were:

Broadhurst – Teravainen – McNeill

Ross – Rasmussen – Hartman

Wise – Carey – Caron

Van Stralen – Danault – Bauman

Defensive Pairings:

Svedberg – Johns

Fournier – VanRiemsdyk

Gotovets – Holl

Mac Carruth was in goal.

I think for a first game back there were positives to be had here and there, but it’s the first game back.

If there were stars to be handed out to the team, I’d go Danault (2A), Van Stralen (2G), Johns/Teuvo. Once again, I’m focusing on what was working for them, not if they made any mistakes.

Also, although William Nylander looks young enough to star in that toaster strudel commercial, he looked good out there. Puck traveled off his stick on a breakaway that would have probably been a goal for him.

Hawks (Hogs) play the Penguins at 1p (Central) on Sunday and then finish against Ottawa’s team Monday night at 6p.
