Puckcast: Hockeenight Jinxes the Canucks

Superstitious?  You should be.  With the Bruins and Canucks playing on Wednesday, there was only one thing that could seal the deal for Boston – an impromptu Puckcast!  Listen in as Fork and CT are joined by LFork, Gil Gunderson and The Active Stick. Friday Night Fights: Go Sharks

So, did you know they’re still playing hockey? Yeah, it turns out the NHL didn’t simply shut down the playoffs after the Rangers, Blackhawks, Flyers, Penguins and Capitals were eliminated (I have to believe that Gary Betteman’s workday now consists of nothing but praying the rosary for the Boston Bruins). Which is a good thing, because despite the Hawks early exit, this playoffs has seen some terrific stuff.

EPIC: Hawks 1, Canucks 2 (OT) – Canucks Win Series 4-3

I have no words.  But, since this is the internet, I better type some here anyway.  Make no mistake, but for one man, the Vancouver Canucks were the better team tonight.  Their fans will tell you they had this all the way, but their soiled overalls say otherwise.  Vancouver wins the series and moves on.  They have achieved their ultimate goal of advancing to the the second round.

HAWKS ON THE BRINK: Canucks 3, Blackhawks 2

There’s an old adage in hockey that a series doesn’t begin until a team loses on home ice. Does that mean this series has begun?

The Chicago Blackhawks came out in the first period with some jump, scored on their first power play of the night, then pissed away 1:17 of 5-on-3 time to not put any distance between themselves and the Vancouver Canucks. This proved costly as the Canucks took a 3-game lead in the first round of the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs, taking a 3-2 decision in the United Center tonight.
