The Hawks continued their Ontario swing with a trip to AAC tonight. Two Original Six teams on very different paths:
WAIT, HOLY SHIT, DIDJA HEAR? THE BATTLE OF THE VAN RIEMSDYKS WAS TONIGHT! JVR VS TVR COMPETING TO DETERMINE WHO IS THE BETTER VR, ALL ON YOUR DVR!
Sorry. I’ve been hearing Michael Buffer howling that in some diseased corner of my brain since the game started and I’m forced to inflict that upon you all.
Anyway, while the Leafs have been looking better this season than they normally do, the Hawks could have walked out with two points tonight. Instead they continued their current MO of slow sloppy play for two periods then fast disciplined play for the third. That doesn’t work when the opposing goaler has himself a good night.
Getting on with it…
HOLY JUMPIN’ FUCKIN’ JESUS, the Hawks went 2 for 3 on the power play. Both goals came from the 2nd unit moving the puck and moving themselves constantly. Which means we can expect this to change tomorrow night.
Crawford kept the Hawks in the game tonight, despite what certain Twitter accounts have to say. The third goal was on him, but I’m willing to overlook it since it’s his first game back.
Reimer had a tremendous game. I can’t hate the guy, just plain played out of his mind tonight. 45 saves and a .957 SV% deserves a 1st Star and a mention here.
5v5 is disgusting. I have no idea what the hell the Hawks do at practice, but passing doesn’t seem to be a part of it. In fact, their passing is as sloppy as two lepers fucking. The Leafs scored all three immediately following a Hawks turnover. I sense a pattern here.
Andrew Shaw, Second Line Center is the worst show on television and needs to be cancelled immediately. I don’t know what Patrick Kane did to deserve first Handzus and now Shaw, but I think he’s atoned for it.
The 1st PP unit is poop. That is all.
Hjalmarsson’s face after he blocked a pass with it. On the upside, I did enjoy his wife tweeting that he was okay.
The first Leafs goal. Stop me if you’ve heard this one. Shaw loses the draw, the entire line has a seizure (I’m guessing someone shouted “Gator!” and everyone thought they were at a Delta toga party), and Kadri gets a clean look.
HOT TAKE OF THE NIGHT:
Leafs beat the Hawks, well that’s humiliating. #Blackhawks

Hawks face the Thrashers at home tomorrow night, and Krista continues her feud with the entire city of Winnipeg.
