HAWKS CAN’T BLIMB LADD-ER TO SUCCESS: Perds 3, Blackhawks 1

Just before the Chicago Blackhawks took on the Nashville Predators, word came out that the Hawks were sending this Spring’s first round pick, a conditional pick in 2018 and Marko Dano to Winnipeg for Andrew Ladd and a couple minor leaguers.

The Hawks then had to attend to the business at hand, trying to nab a couple points against the Perds. How did it go?

They sure could have used Ladd tonight. The Hawks ran up against Pekka Rinne, who was completely locked in. Rinne stopped 38 Hawks shots as the Hawks fell 3-1 in the United Center. Let’s get to this…

THE GOOD:

Stan Bowman. The Hawks needed help at left wing, and they got the best one on the market. Sure, they don’t have draft picks in the first two rounds this summer, but they didn’t last year either. If the Hawks remain effective in the international market they’ll be OK. And not only the big deals. He was able to add depth to the bottom six with the Sekac and Panik deals this year without doing any damage to the NHL roster.

THE BAD:

Not a whole lot, really. They did everything right and got goalied. Hell, if the Hawks had managed to pull this one out, Corey Crawfrd would have been the number one star.

THE UGLY:

Mike Ribeiro and Hockey Star Mike Fisher are the Mike Love and Bruce Johnston of hockey. Fuck all four of those guys.

HOT TAKE OF THE NIGHT:

Fro is the worst.

  1. Is there any chance Ladd could remain with the Hawks after this year?

    1. Not unless he’s willing to take a massive pay cut. As tight against the cap as the Hawks currently are, it’s going to get worse when Panarin’s bonuses start kicking in.

They got him as a rental.
